The pros & cons of DJs

A good Dj can read a crowd well, play the right songs to match the right moment and keep the momentum of the party going. They can get the crowd dancing and add to the vibe of the night.

A bad Dj can just as easily dampen your party’s vibe by playing the wrong songs, not reading the crowd, refusing requests or not playing the music you want.
So choose your DJ with care - It is important to make sure the DJ plays the genre of music you and your guests like. Choose a DJ who is open to requests or else be willing to trust their music and their choices… after all, that is their profession. Most DJ’s will not appreciate being given a hour by hour, minute by minute song list to adhere to and If you are more interested in a specific play list and have a large list of song request, you may be better off skipping a Dj and using an ipod or jukebox.

Research or ask your venue and you may find the perfect Dj who takes requests, has a wide range of music, and plays your favorite songs.

Dj’s can range from $50 per hour to $100 per hour. Some bring their own equipment; some charge you extra for equipment.

Always find out what the venue provides and what you have to bring. Also, find out charges for the use of venue’s equipment, and sound system. If you bring your own equipment, when can it be delivered, when can you pick it up, where can it be stored?

Lastly, Check the venue’s sound restrictions .
