Entertaining Your Guests

What aspects of your function can make your night stand out? These factors can influence whether your guests arrive on time (if at all), based on what they expect out of the night. You don’t want them to think it’s going to be just another 21st/30th/40th.

So brainstorm and ask your function manager for ideas.

Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Belly dancers, magicians, flare bar tenders, fire twirlers etc can all make an impact.
  • Manicures for guests, roving masseurs, palm readers, tarot readers, henna artists can also add a point of difference to your event.
  • For a Moroccan function I once organized, we even looked at hiring a camel for the uniqueness it offered and the fact that it would be a talking point the next day at the water cooler.

Enquire about entertainment services offered by the venue and the associated costs.
Consider what services you can outsource or hire and what these services will cost you
If you have a limited budget, what will your guests appreciate more… money on the bar, catered food or entertainment?

Explore any restrictions the venue may have with regards to entertainment.

Be careful however that you don’t blow your entire budget on a ridiculously expensive circus trapeze act and then leave your guests with no food, no drinks and a bad venue.  Balance it all out. Creativity and originality can often trump an expensive production.

Any ideas on affordable entertainment options based on a bit of originality and rather than a big budget?
